Green Tea Inhibits Cancers of Small Intestine, Stomach and Colon in Animals

Study description: Green tea extract and EGCg were given to lab animals, who were then exposed to the powerful carcinogens ENNG (N-ethyl-N’-nitro-N-nitroguanidine) and MNNG (N-methyl-N’-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine).

What happened: Green tea extract and EGCg inhibited the formation of cancers of the small intestine, stomach and colon.
 

Researchers' conclusion: “These findings suggest that EGCG and GTE [green tea extract] are useful in preventing gastrointestinal carcinogenesis…”
