Review Study Shows GT Polyphenols Slow Development of Skin Tumors in Animals

Question: Does green tea help reduce the risk of developing cancerous skin tumors caused by ultraviolet light?

The Study: A review study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry discussed the most recent investigations and studies explaining and supporting the ability of green tea polyphenols to protect against the damaging effects of ultraviolet light.

The Findings: This review of green tea studies found that green tea polyphenols - whether added to the drinking water or applied to the skin - do prevent the development of UVB-induced skin tumor development in mice.
